saya baru saja membeli Samsung NC10. It comes preinstalled dengan Windows XP, tapi saya menyukai untuk Kubuntu 8,10 terinstal. Samsung NC10 yang dilengkapi dengan 160GB harddisk jadi ada banyak ruang (setidaknya untuk saya). Jadi saya mulai untuk mencari tahu bagaimana saya dapat menginstal Kubuntu 8,10 pada netbook tanpa cd-maupun dvd-drive. Dua bulan lalu, saya membeli sebuah Asus Eee Box rumah saya sebagai server (menjalankan Apache, MySQL, dll SVN). Eee Box yang juga memiliki masalah yang tidak memiliki cd-rom drive yang tersedia. Aku ini dipecahkan dengan menggunakan drive cd-rom dari pc dan IDE-USB ke perangkat. Eee Box yang terdeteksi ini sebagai sendiri cd-rom drive dan saya bisa boot live cd.
Samsung NC10 untuk saya mencoba trik yang sama tapi cukup aneh itu gagal. Di bios tidak mendeteksi cd-rom drive, jadi saya tidak dapat boot live cd. Saya mencoba plan B; membuat bootable USB stick. Rencana ini bekerja dengan baik dan saya mampu untuk menginstal Kubuntu.
Pertama saya butuhkan untuk memformat USB drive (saya menggunakan 1GB Sandisk Cruzer) di FAT16 (baca suatu tempat yang tidak berfungsi jika FAT32). Kemudian saya diperlukan sebuah utilitas bernama nifty UNetBootIn (Univeral Netboot Installer). Anda menjalankan tool ini, Anda pilih file ISO dan target berkendara, dan alat ekstrak ISO ke drive dan menginstal sebuah bootloader.
CATATAN: Beberapa kali saya pikir seluruh proses hung, namun setelah menunggu beberapa menit alat terus menyalin.
Langkah berikutnya adalah untuk boot dari USB. Samsung NC10 yang memiliki harddisk melalui
USB drive boot prioritas dalam daftar, sehingga harus diubah.
Untuk melakukannya, tekan F2 pada saat startup untuk memasuki bios. Setelah ini saya bisa
boot dari cd live USB stick.
Karena 160GB harddisk adalah sepenuhnya digunakan oleh partisi Windows,
saya pertama yang diperlukan untuk shrink partisi ini dengan alat.
Sayangnya saya tidak dapat menemukan pada tinggal cd. Oleh karena itu saya
mulai dijalankan dan terminal:
$ Sudo apt-get install GParted
GParted ini dipasang di lingkungan hidup. Langkah selanjutnya adalah untuk melaksanakan:
$ Sudo GParted
untuk memulai GParted, yang dapat bersembunyi disk.
Malu-malu ketika saya mulai dilakukan prosedur instalasi.
Setelah reboot pertama semuanya bekerja out-of-the-box kecuali Wireless Network.
